Dan's Account
15th of April 2007
We had just finished a Sunday lunch with some of Dan's friends at The Cunning Man at Burghfield Bridge and we decided to go for a walk alongside the canal. It was a really sunny afternoon, and we wanted to work off some of the lovely food we'd been eating.
We walked along the canal for about 15 minutes before deciding that what we really would like would be some dessert.
On the way back, it just felt like the right moment to pop the question. I didn't have the ring with me, but I decided to ask anyway.
Unfortunately, Kob was babbling on about something on the ground at the time so I had to politely ask her to 'shut up' whilst I plucked up the courage to ask. The ground was a bit too muddy to get down on one knee though.
I think my exact words were "Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?"
Hearing her say 'Yes' was one of the best moments of my life, and one that I will never forget.
When we got home, I got the ring and proposed again on one knee.
She said yes again, but she'll never understand why I didn't kneel the first time!
